This custom ring project was super fun to design!
It began with just the center princess cut diamond and a whole new ring was to be built around it. The inspiration was to really beautify the square shape while making the ring also very balanced. We chose to compliment the center stone with two princess cuts on each side to give it a glorious presence.
From there we wanted to really kick it up a notch and make this ring unique... We decided to set those side princess cut diamonds using some ingenuity - and the talented hands of our master bench jeweler Jim Newton. Take notice that those two princess cut diamonds are not set in a traditional prong fashion. They are actually half bezel and half prong set. The flat nature of the princess cut gave us a clever idea to use the side railing of the center stone's head as a half bezel bar used to set the side princess cut diamonds!
We were being very ambitious as this is not an easy undertaking.
One of the biggest concerns was if the prongs on the outsides would be able to move over the corners of the princess cuts without compromising the small round diamonds that run up the prongs. Our calculations came together perfectly as we were indeed able to set the stones securely without compromising any of the integrity of the ring!
One of the most beautiful aspects of this ring are underneath the obvious.
Yes there are rockin' rocks ranging across the top of this ring.
Yes this ring has a stunning and impressive presence to it.
Yet the beautiful subtleties of the work done to the sides and under gallery of this ring really make it a finished statement piece. It isn't just three large precious princess cuts, although it is that too. It combines the delicate features and artist addition of small brilliant cut diamond accents throughout the ring.
We are very proud of this custom design and very grateful that we got the chance to design such a beautiful and stunning ring.
